Handheld

A portable tap-to-pay tablet with optional LTE and a built-in card reader — designed to be carried by a volunteer or placed on a tabletop.

The Handheld is a portable tap-to-pay tablet with a built-in card reader and optional LTE for true mobility. Connect it to Wi-Fi, configure LTE, or both. It displays campaign media full screen in landscape orientation for branding, then automatically switches to portrait mode when donors start the donation flow.

Hand it to a volunteer walking through a crowd during a live appeal, place it on a registration table at an iftar, or pass it between donors at a fundraising dinner. The Handheld is built for situations where a full kiosk isn't practical and a staff member or volunteer is nearby. Purchase a Handheld

Multi-App Mode#

Unlike the StandPro (which runs in locked kiosk mode), the Handheld operates in multi-app mode. This means a volunteer or representative can navigate between the Nizam donation app and other applications on the device as needed.

The Handheld is designed to be used with a person present — a volunteer in a crowd, a rep at a table, or staff managing an event.

Connectivity#

The Handheld requires a network connection to accept donations — either Wi-Fi or LTE. Wi-Fi works out of the box through the standard device settings. LTE is optional and requires configuration, but once set up it gives the Handheld true mobility without depending on a local network. See Handheld Setup for connection details.

Payments#

The Handheld supports both one-time and recurring donations. Donors can set up weekly or monthly commitments directly from the device. Returning donors are automatically looked up, so they receive their receipt without needing to re-enter personal information.

Recurring donations require a physical card

Mobile wallets generate a one-time token per tap and don't share reusable card details with the terminal. Recurring donations require stored credentials, so donors setting up a recurring gift will be prompted to tap a physical card instead.

Why Use the Handheld#

The Handheld shines when a volunteer or staff member is present to carry or manage the device:

  • Jumu'ah and salah — pass it through the congregation after prayer so donors can give while the khutbah is still fresh
  • Live appeals and galas — a volunteer walks the Handheld through the crowd so donors can give on the spot while the energy is high
  • Fundraising tours — take it masjid to masjid, event to event, and set up a donation table at each stop
