Zakat

Nizam is built for Muslim-led organizations, and Zakat compliance is a first-class feature. When a campaign is marked as Zakat eligible, donors see a Zakat option during checkout, and Zakat-labeled donations are tracked separately throughout the platform — in reports, donor profiles, and transaction records.

Zakat Eligibility#

Marking a campaign as Zakat eligible tells donors that their contributions through this campaign can count toward their Zakat obligation. This is a meaningful distinction for donors who carefully separate Zakat from Sadaqah and other forms of giving.

Four Modes#

How the Zakat option appears to donors depends on which mode you choose:

• Optional On — the Zakat checkbox appears and is pre-selected. Donors who don't want their donation marked as Zakat can uncheck it. Use this when Zakat is the primary intent of the campaign.
• Optional Off — the Zakat checkbox appears but is not selected. Donors actively choose to mark their donation as Zakat. Use this when the campaign serves both Zakat and non-Zakat purposes.
• Required — all donations are automatically marked as Zakat. No checkbox is shown. Use this for campaigns exclusively dedicated to Zakat distribution.
• Disabled — no Zakat information appears during checkout. Use this for campaigns that are clearly not Zakat eligible, like event tickets or administrative drives.

Zakat Tracking#

Zakat-labeled donations are tracked separately across the platform. You can filter transactions by Zakat status, generate Zakat-specific reports, and view individual donor Zakat totals. This separation ensures your organization can verify that Zakat funds reach their intended recipients — a critical compliance requirement for Islamic nonprofits.

Zakat in Campaign Groups#

When campaigns are part of a campaign group, the group can set its own Zakat mode that applies to all child campaigns. In split mode, individual campaigns can override the group's Zakat setting if needed through the override system.
